Around 4 this afternoon, DC - or at least my neighborhood - received a sunny thunderstorm. It's not totally uncommon to have the sun break through right after a thunderstorm, or to have a light sprinkle of rain and some sun combined, but I've never seen a heavy rain and bright sun, with thunder in the background, all in the same sky.
